Our Amarylis Bulb After 2 Weeks....

It has been two weeks since we planted our Amarylis bulb.  It was 3 cm to start.  The first week, it grew 2 cm, this week it grew 3 cm, and now it is 8cm.  The plant now has 4 leaves.  Last week, it only had 3 leaves, and when we planted it, it had 2 leaves.  One of the leaves has a cut in it from someone playing with it.  We water it once a week.  We put a rock in it to decorate it.  We think it is growing fast.  Someone measures it every day.

Our Amarylis Bulb

Today we planted an Amarylis bulb.  It is like a really big seed.  It is 14 cm tall and 8 cm across.  It is shaped like Cady's pear (but a little bigger, and the pear is tastier) and a lightbulb.  The little stem is smooth like an onion. It is brown and green. It has layers like an onion.  It has roots on the bottom.   It is going to grow into a plant with red flowers.

Our Predictions:
Hana thinks the stem will grow in 60 days, that there will be 2 blooms in 69 days and they will open into a flower in 70 days.
Lexys thinks the stem will grow in 10 days, that there will be 3 blooms in 12 days and they will open into a flower in 16 days.
 Devron thinks the stem will grow in 6 days, that there will be 2 blooms in 1 week and they will open into a flower in 2-3 weeks.
 Ethan thinks the stem will grow in 7 days, that there will be 2 blooms in 14 days and they will open into a flower in 30 days.
Hayden thinks the stem will grow in 10 days, that there will be 2 blooms in 20 days and they will open into a flower in 30 days.
Ayden thinks the stem will grow in 4 days, that there will be 7 blooms in 8 days and they will open into a flower in 9 days.
Tineka thinks the stem will grow in 8 days, that there will be 6 blooms in 11 days and they will open into a flower in 19 days.
Lacie thinks the stem will grow in 7 days, that there will be 2 blooms in 20 days and they will open into a flower in 30 days.
Carlos thinks the stem will grow in 1 day, that there will be 3 blooms in 2 days and they will open into a flower in 4 days.
Cady thinks the stem will grow in 10 days, that there will be 13 blooms in 11 days and they will open into a flower in 15 days.
Nick thinks the stem will grow in 9 days, that there will be 2 blooms in 9 days and they will open into a flower in 3


days.

TWAS

Last week at school we had a spirit week.  On Monday it was pajama day.  Almost all of us wore our pajamas, it was really nice to not get dressed in the morning.  On Tuesday it was injury and sports day.  Lots of the injuries sure looked real!  On Wednesday it was partner twin day!  Hana, Nick and Hayden dressed up like their stuffies, Devron, Lexys, Tineka and some people from other classes all dressed in black, Ethan, Rylan and Ayden all dressed in white shirts and blue jeans. Lacie, her sister and lots of the teachers had anti bullying shirts on.  On Thursday it was costume day.  Ethan dressed up as Spiderman, Carlos and Nick were the Scream, Hayden was a Jedi.  Ayden was a storm trooper, Rylan was Mini Me, Devron was a gypsy, Lexys was a musketeer, Tineka and Cadance were a vampire, Lacie was a witch, Hana was Pocahontas and Mrs Johnston was a ninja turtle.  On Wednesday we did pumpkin math,  We had to weigh them, measure the height and circumference.  We also counted the seeds and graphed them.    We carved out pumpkins then wrote about what they looked like, felt like and smelled like.  It was lots of fun.  On Thursday we had our Because of Winn Dixie party. First we prepared for it by decorating.  We put up streamers, dog pictures and candles in our pumpkins.  (in the book the candles were in brown pape
r bags)   We watched the movie.  During the movie we had the same snack that they had in their party in the book.  The snacks were egg salad sandwiches, pickles, Litimus lozenges and Dump punch.  We added peanut butter sandwiches because Winn Dixie loved peanut butter.  The movie was really good.  We had lots of favorite parts.
